Cryovo

Glossary

Every term, in plain words.

If a word in Cryovo is unfamiliar, this is where it is explained. Each definition is one or two plain sentences — no compliance jargon. Definitions are general information, not legal advice.

30-day money-back guarantee
If the first paid month is not right, contact hello@thermoneural.com within 30 days of the charge and it is refunded. It is a manual refund handled through Stripe; the Terms are the binding version.

A

Asset
An asset is a single thing whose temperature you need to prove: a cold room, a walk-in freezer, a display case, a transport container. Each asset has its own required temperature band and its own reading history.Related: Temperature band, Readings
Audit trail
The audit trail is the evidence file an auditor can follow line by line. Cryovo's PDF shows the summary, every excursion with start/end/duration/worst value/status, and an appendix of the readings behind it.Related: Readings appendix, Audit-ready
Audit-ready
Audit-ready means the record is organised and explainable: what was measured, against which limit, what happened, and where the readings are. It does not mean certified, validated or guaranteed compliant.Related: Audit trail
Automatic leak detection (ALD)
Automatic leak detection uses fixed sensors to detect refrigerant escaping earlier than a periodic inspection would. Some rules make it mandatory above a size threshold and allow longer leak-check intervals when it is installed.Related: Leak check

B

Billing portal
The billing portal is hosted by Stripe; Cryovo never sees your card details. From the monitor or account page you can open it to update the payment method, get invoices or cancel the subscription.

C

Cold excursion
A cold excursion means the temperature was lower than allowed (for example below 2 °C in a 2–8 °C room). Chilled product can freeze; Cryovo records the same facts as for warm excursions.Related: Excursion
Compliance score
The score is a deterministic summary of the uploaded log, not a certification. It starts at 100 and subtracts 4 points for every warm excursion and 2 for every cold excursion, floored at 0. Use it to compare logs, not as a regulatory approval.Related: Excursion, Audit trail
CSV
CSV (comma-separated values) is the simplest spreadsheet format. Logger software, Excel and Google Sheets can all produce one. Cryovo reads the file in your browser — it is not uploaded anywhere until you confirm the import.Related: Logger, Readings

D

Design partner
A design partner is not a demo user. They run Cryovo on a real facility for a fixed period, give direct feedback, and in exchange get hands-on setup and a direct line to the team.Related: Design-partner pilot
Design-partner pilot
The pilot runs for 60 days on the Facility plan at $199/month (USD), month to month. It includes an onboarding call, help with the first import, the audit-trail reports, and a direct email line. Applying is free; the pilot itself is paid.Related: Design partner

E

E-signature
Cryovo's e-signature records the signer, role, time and hashes of the signed content. If anything in the signed record changes, re-verification fails. Available on the Professional plan.Related: Part 11-aligned
Excursion
An excursion starts when a reading leaves the band and ends when a reading returns inside it. Cryovo records how long it lasted, how far the temperature drifted, and whether it recovered.Related: Warm excursion, Cold excursion, Out-of-band time, Recovered

F

F-gas
F-gas is the family of fluorinated gases used in fridges, freezers, air-conditioning and heat pumps. Rules require leak checks, record keeping and — from 2027 — additional reporting for larger systems.Related: Refrigerant, GWP, tCO₂e
Facility plan
Facility is the plan for one facility that needs the cold-chain record plus F-gas accounting: up to 10 assets, the environmental/F-gas report, and the audit-trail PDFs. Month to month; cancel any time.Related: F-gas, Asset
Free plan
The free plan lets you run the whole workflow on one asset: register it, import readings, see excursions and the score, and download the audit-trail PDF. It never asks for a card.Related: Asset

G

GWP
GWP is a multiplier. CO₂ has a GWP of 1; refrigerant R-404A has a GWP of 3,943, so 1 kg of it counts as 3,943 kg of CO₂-equivalent. Cryovo prints the GWP basis so the number can be traced.Related: tCO₂e, Refrigerant

H

HACCP
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a structured food-safety approach. Temperature monitoring records and corrective actions for out-of-limit readings are part of the evidence a HACCP plan relies on.
HFC quota
Quota caps the climate impact of HFCs that a company places on the market. If you report against a quota, Cryovo's F-gas report shows the fleet total and how much headroom remains.Related: tCO₂e, F-gas

L

Leak check
Larger refrigerant systems must be checked more often. The requirement is set per system by its tonnes of CO₂-equivalent (for example every 12, 6 or 3 months), with a longer interval possible when automatic leak detection is fitted.Related: tCO₂e, Automatic leak detection (ALD)
Logger
A data logger is the hardware you already have (for example a USB or wireless temperature recorder). Its software exports a spreadsheet — usually a CSV file — which you upload to Cryovo.Related: CSV, Readings

O

Open excursion
Open means the log ends while the temperature is still out of range. Treat it as unresolved: check the asset and investigate before relying on the record.Related: Recovered
Out-of-band time
Out-of-band time sums the duration of every excursion in the uploaded log. It is a quick measure of how much time the asset was outside its required range.Related: Excursion

P

Part 11-aligned
Part 11 is the US FDA regulation for electronic records and signatures. 'Aligned' means the design follows its record-keeping principles (signer identity, time, content binding). It is not a certification, validation or guarantee of compliance.Related: E-signature
Per-analysis credit
Some platforms charge a platform fee plus credits for each AI-assisted analysis. The comparison page shows how that model differs from Cryovo's flat monthly subscription; competitor prices can change and are checked against their published pages.
Professional plan
Professional adds unlimited assets at one facility and tamper-evident e-signatures on top of the Facility capabilities. It is the plan for teams that need the record signed and verifiable.Related: E-signature, Part 11-aligned

R

Readings
One reading is a time and a temperature (for example 2026-10-27 14:15, 4.2 °C). A logger produces hundreds or thousands of them. Cryovo evaluates each reading against the asset's band.Related: Logger, Temperature band
Readings appendix
The appendix prints the uploaded readings (bounded to the most recent 2,000 rows) so a reviewer can check the summary against the source data. The full uploaded file remains the source of record.Related: Audit trail
Reclaimed HFC
Reclaiming recovers used refrigerant and cleans it to a defined specification. Record keeping and reporting for reclaimed HFCs is a 2027 requirement — one of the deadlines covered in the 2027 guide.Related: F-gas
Recovered
An excursion is recovered when the log shows the temperature returning inside the required band. If the last reading is still outside the band, the excursion is shown as open.Related: Open excursion, Excursion
Refrigerant
The refrigerant is the gas that moves heat in a fridge or freezer. Its name determines its global-warming potential, which is needed to calculate tonnes of CO₂-equivalent and the leak-check interval.Related: GWP, tCO₂e

T

tCO₂e
tCO₂e puts different gases on the same scale. For example 10 kg of R-404A (GWP 3,943) is 39.43 tCO₂e. Leak-check obligations and quotas are expressed in this unit.Related: GWP, Leak check
Temperature band
The band is the range the temperature is supposed to stay inside, taken from your SOP, product label or regulator requirement (for example 2–8 °C for chilled food). Readings outside the band become excursions.Related: Excursion, Asset

W

Warm excursion
A warm excursion means the temperature was higher than allowed (for example above 8 °C in a 2–8 °C room). Cryovo counts it, measures its duration and records the worst value.Related: Excursion
